• Atman

The Atman or Atma (IAST: Ātmā, sanskrit: आत्म‍ ) is a philosophical term used within Hinduism and Vedanta to identify the soul. It is one's true self (hence generally translated into English as 'Self') beyond identification with the phenomenal reality of worldly existence.

    a different kind of grape

    By heather | July 17, 2007

Vacation is officially over. I know this because as I was trying to leave the house today I rubbed my eye because it itched a little. By the time I got everything in the car, my eye was streaming and so red it looked like I’d been punched and it itched like crazy.

So I ran back in the house to find some allergy pills and drops, and all I could find was Children’s Dimetapp which led to me driving down the road chewing grape flavored tablets, eye pulsing, reflecting on how much my standards have changed. I definitely have more of a “that’s the way it is” attitude when it comes to certain things.

Of course I was reminded that other people’s standards aren’t necessarily lower by the number of people who asked me what happened to my eye. (As soon as the Dimetapp wore off my eye returned to an unseasonal red and green.)

The good news is, I wasn’t wearing my false eyelashes (shout out to Erin, who moved to Japan today. Dammit.)
