driving me crazy
By heather | July 26, 2007
Today came the arrival of new technology in our cube at work. The trend I’m noticing is that the more screens you have on your desk, the busier and more important you appear to be.
There are now an extraordinary number of people that have two monitors side by side, allegedly so they can work faster and more efficiently but what really happens is they have to try harder to hide their surfing.
So I now have two 21-inch flatscreen monitors on my desk. They are so bright I feel like I’m sitting too close to the sun. YES I adjusted the contrast, but if you are sitting 6 inches from your television, you are still soaking up all that cell-nucleaus-altering radiation. And also I keep getting confused as to where things are.
I have a feeling that most of the time my left screen will be where I work, and the right screen will just display the pretty green logo because there is just too much too look at. It’s policy and analysis in IMAX.
On another work related topic, I came across this article today. A good argument for staying home.
