driving me crazy part II
By heather | August 21, 2007
In it’s continuing quest to make my head explode…the govn’ment gone and got itself some online chat capability. So now in addition to my two screens, I can chat. Not to anyone outside the network (eek!) but the guy that sits right next to me, well, we are connected, oh yes we are. So instead of walking down the hall to go talk to someone, or even calling them god forbid – we chat.
This is good because:
- I plan outfits around shoes – often impractical-ouch-inducing shoes – and this way I walk less.
- Walking less means I am less critical of people around me, and I’m talking to you white pants/panty lines girl. (huffs)
- I can gossip with people across the network without having to whisper into my phone.
- I can collaborate real-time and address critical communications to provide faster dissemination of critical data.
Oops, sorry that last one slipped in there. Congratulations if you made it through that sentence without your eyes crossing and your brain hurting. Back to the list!
Chat is bad because:
- I plan outfits around shoes, and no one will be able to admire them if they are hidden under my desk all day.
- Walking less also means my ass will spread to fill my chair much faster.
- I spent the entire morning IM’ing and I have nothing to show for it.
- Typing without getting a train of though going seems to enhance the effect of caffeine on me so I have to peel myself off the ceiling after my normal amount of coffee. I wonder if there is actual real research on the effect of all these chat windows.
The part I find most entertaining about the arrival of this here fancy pants chat app is that the part people are most thrilled with is the phone capability. I have had more people than I can count ping me to have an online phone conference, EVEN THOUGH WE ALL STILL HAVE PHONES. THAT WORK. (And that I don’t have to plug in a wee little headset that pinches my big noggin to use.)
And now some pictures. This is a total rockstar pose – except for the plastic bib and Cheerios. I would say the expression and the hair is sort of Abercrombie but ewww…
