• Atman

The Atman or Atma (IAST: Ātmā, sanskrit: आत्म‍ ) is a philosophical term used within Hinduism and Vedanta to identify the soul. It is one's true self (hence generally translated into English as 'Self') beyond identification with the phenomenal reality of worldly existence.

alex & mommy’s weekend of fun

    By heather | August 24, 2007

So Baby A and I are on our own this weekend. Here is the list of fun things we will do:

    1. Be vegetarians together (Tofurkey sausage here we come)
    2. Go to Mommy’s work picnic (the mandatory fun never stops)
    3. Take good naps (right Alex?)
    4. Clean up the house so that we can see how messy we really are without having Brett to blame the mess on (just kidding honey, I suspect there will still be Cheerios on the floor)
    5. Sit together in the Pampers jumbo pack cardboard diaper box and practice sitting still and quiet in a small, cramped space for an hour and see how it goes. (Maybe we’ll do this at the mall so we can also prepare for all the looks we’ll be getting on the plane. Also an hour is probably unrealistic given the state of air travel today, so maybe we’ll shoot for two.)
    6. Wow this list is not shaping up to be that fun.
    7. Go shopping! (There we go.)
    8. Go to the pool! (More fun!)
    9. NOT WATCH THE LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!

Number 9 probably needs some explanation. You see, Brett’s hometown hosts the LLWS every year - it is their one claim to fame. (I’m not knocking - Bing-town has carousels for pete’s sake but also spiedies which totally rock.)  And every year for two loooong weeks no matter the hour of day or night, there are 12 year olds playing baseball on my TV.

It is constant, like a painful boil on my arse and I have grown to hate/despise/wish-for-rains-the-likes-of-which-Noah-never-even-saw to fall on PA for those weeks in August so that it will STOP, PLEASE MAKE IT STOP. (I mentioned I use this blog as therapy right?) But Brett is gone and my channel will not once tune in to ESPN or ESPN2 for kiddie baseball. The best part is, by the time Brett gets back, it will be all over. Ahh.

    Party on.
