    and the results are in…

    I sent Brett the actual results of the Old Wives Tales pregnancy quiz that I took yesterday without realizing that:

    1. the probability of 68% girl and 31% boy does not add up to 100%, and
    2. that some of the answers just wouldn’t stand alone

    Being an engineer, who reads carefully and likes precise measurements (it did not take us 5 minutes to get there, more like 7), Brett naturally had some questions.  He sent me the following email reply:

    1. What in the world does “you show them the palm of your hand” and “you use the handle” mean?

    Actual questions:  when people ask to see your hands do you show them the palm or the back?  And, when you pick up a mug do you use the body or the handle?

    2. You’re mother would not be happy to know that you think she has grey hair

    Actual question:  Does the maternal grandmother have grey hair?

    3. If we have a 31% chance for a boy, and a 68% chance for a girl, what’s the 1% other that we could be having?  Is that called the “Danny Noriega“?

    Snort.

    And now, finally the results you’ve all been waiting for…the reason you read…

    It’s a girl.  She was very obliging in mooning us, so there is absolutely no question about it.

      I am so beyond happy for all of you. You get the best of both worlds having one of each. The Danny Noriega comment was funny…Brett should go into stand-up.

      I am so beyond the current times, I didn’t know who Danny Noriega was.

      We’ll be praying for a safe and healthy (remainder of the) pregnancy and delivery!
