if i were a betting type

I jerked awake in my hotel room this morning because I thought I heard a baby cough, and braced for the wail that was sure to follow. Then I remembered where I was. Fancy hotel. No baby. I sunk back into the pillows and actually managed to go back to sleep.
As if I knew something was wrong on the homefront, Alex has picked up a stomach bug. The kind where he will sit there happily playing, until he opens his mouth and projectile pukes without warning. Where he is sweet and needy and adorable, if a little sour-smelling.
I of course, am hearing about this secondhand. (As the lone caretaker this week, here’s hoping that Brett does not also get the stomach bug.) Besides not being able to cuddle my sick baby, I have a feeling this will weigh heavily against me on the scoreboard. I’ll make no predictions on futures trading.

Yikes, hope he feels better. And you know the last night you are there is the only night you will sleep soundly right?

I think you may be in trouble. I still have not forgotten a business trip my husband took a few years ago, leaving me at home to clean up sick-kid-messes for a full week. Of course I have not let him forget it either. Love the scoreboard idea, by the way…
