the end, and just in time

I’m so over the training I’m attending this week. Now I’m just antsy and irritated.
I am generally a good student. I enjoy learning and will seek out ways to improve myself. I love taking classes.
Even when I know the topic, a smart and concise discussion will hold my interest and I will walk away feeling enriched.
When the teacher (who is not really a teacher but trying to “get better in front of a crowd” because it’s a “development goal” of his) knows less about the material than I do, and is not very good at communicating what he does know in a class that I’m paying for, I get pissed. Want to get better in front of a crowd? Take a public speaking class. Want to learn to be a teacher? Start small, with a workshop or something.
Because I am irritated with the lack of a good facilitator I am noticing things about my fellow students that are the kind of things you pick on when you’re annoyed and looking for diversion.
For example, the guy who never shuts up in the corner and has an anecdote for EVERYTHING.
The old guy who at lunch was picking candy off the dessert tray and in the process TOUCHING every single brownie as he nudged them aside to get at the M&M nestled next to it.
The guy with a comb-over that at first glance from across the room I thought had very weird highlights. It was actually scalp showing through.
The guy who ate 5 sandwiches. Seriously, FIVE.
I’ve enjoyed my me-time, especially sleeping until 7 and room service. I did not manage to fit in a pedicure, mainly because of my fear of foot fungus but I did shop and catch up with friends and generally laze around. It will be months, maybe years before I get a break like this again.
I miss my baby. Odds are good I will have the barfing stomach flu by Sunday, but nevertheless, I’m ready to head home.

God, I despise guy who never shuts up. He was in almost all of my classes.
