monday shopping randomness

Prologue: I’ve been bad blogger. No really, sucky for the last month or so. I haven’t updated because I am pregnant enough that I’m sick of talking about it, but what else is there at this stage? I’m sick of people asking me if I have a baby name - NO. I don’t want to admit my due date is still 31 days away because I want to go EARLY. So this week I will post with a theme! Every day! They may be short, but will revolve around one of my favorite non-pregnancy subjects - SHOPPING! It will help take my mind off of swollen feet and 90 degree temps and everything else that’s making me cranky.
Saturday I ventured to Sam’s Club. I say ventured because from the time the idea of going crosses my mind to actually forcing myself to enter the store, it’s usually a good two weeks. Last week, I actually made it as far as the parking lot, and then I couldn’t get out of the car so I got gas instead. My membership expires today so this weekend was the last chance to actually ENTER the store.
I love the idea of deals in bulk, but I hate the other shoppers. And the lines. And the mass confusion and paper towels that won’t fit in the cart. I went to price Pampers and a few other things to see how much I was really saving so I could decide if the membership was worth the money.
When I walked into the store, the first display was of MOLDY strawberries. Every package I picked up had a fuzzer in it. And yet, people were buying them. I personally have no use for moldy fruit, but I’m open to suggestions I guess.
I wandered around, writing down prices and sizes so I could calculate and compare like a big dork.
I stood in line for TWENTY minutes. Then some bizatch two places behind me plowed right over me and Alex with her cart when they opened the lane next to us in her rush to beat everyone else to checkout. I seethed and gave her the trademark staredown. She didn’t notice, which maybe is why she felt like a winner when she beat a 9-month pregnant girl and her cart in a foot race.
And the news - I’m not sure if it’s good or bad - is that Pampers are $6 less per box. The toilet paper, paper towels, and cereal are also cheaper when bought in mass quantity.
Now the question is: seeing as how I can only force myself out of the car and into the store maybe once a quarter, is the mental distress offset by the savings? Should I try a club with a more upscale rep, like Costco? Or, should I force myself back there today after work, buy as many Pampers as will fit in the car and be done with it?

Well, we belong to Costco and while I would venture to say that the quality of their food is pretty awesome (except never buy the sushi! I know someone who got food poisoning from their sushi!), I still find shopping there, or at any warehouse store, totally insufferable. I hope the bizatch who almost plowed into you um . . . pukes up some moldy strawberries. Or something.

So thats a no to the name?
Ok… I guess since you are so pregnant, you get what you want.
Sam’s ROCKS. Except for all the people that shop there, with the exception of us.
