I define a reward as coming after the nail nipping and a bribe as coming during the nail nipping. I'm embarrassed to admit that in 8 years I've never once clipped a child's nail. My bribery is lollipops, I swear his teeth will rot out soon. Funny how you can’t get them to eat, but when any junk food is suggested they will eat that.

Ok, Mommy Know-It-All stepping in here: it’s a bribe if you’re “paying” them for good behavior. It’s a reward if you’re “paying” them for a learned skill. You could technically call getting your nails cut by someone else a learned skill…I guess… In the end, it’s whatever works.

We are in exactly the same boat. I found that ice cream on a stick works. Natalie eats an entire one while I do her nails (she casually eats with one hand while I work on the other.) It takes her just long enough to finish it that I can do her toes too.
