a week in review

How has it been a week already? So here’s what I forgot about having a newborn:
- They sleep. Lots.
- I’m totally in love with the little snarfing sound EK makes when she’s ready to eat.
- Breastfeeding sucks. Alex and I weren’t good at it, and even though EK was great the Raynaud’s made it too painful. This means I’m attached to the pump for approximately 2 hours a day. I consider that my workout. On the plus side, I am a machine and already have at least 15 frozen boob cubes stored for later. (Was that too much info?)
Also:
- Two kids requires complicated scheduling and planning ahead that I don’t currently have the brainpower for. Thank god Grandma is here helping or none of us would have bathed or eaten in the last 3 days.
- We are considering a minivan purchase.
- I never, ever planned to drive a minivan.
- I should be napping RIGHT NOW because in a 24 hour period there are approximately 5 minutes where everyone in the house is asleep.
Did I mention:
- The day we were coming home from the hospital Alex fell and required 4 stiches in his knee, while EK and I were at the hospital wondering if anyone was coming for us?
- Stiches in the knee mean no tub baths which equals dirty hair and fingernails?
- Alex is a great big brother - he loves to give kisses and Nuks and bottles and runs to find his sister the minute he gets out of bed?
- Our seven year anniversary was on Monday?
- And we actually got to go out for a nice dinner at a waterfront restaurant? That unfortunately left both of us with upset stomachs - the boil, boil, toil and trouble kind. The only thing we ate the same was salad so I guess we blame the lettuce…

Emily Kate was very cute but not very hospitable as she would not wake up to entertain, slacker…

Happy Belated Anniversary. It is so strage how fast the last seven years have gone. Your Mom sounds awesome and I am glad you and Brett got to go out to a nice dinner. Tell your Mom she needs to move closer.

I’m way impressed with your milk production capability - I was never more than an ounce or two ahead of the game. You will nail down the two kid routine in no time at all, promise. But in the mean time, thank God for grandmothers. Word.

Wow that’s amazing that you managed to find to update, nice!
Don’t know much about minivans (or having two kids) but we’ve got a smaller utility type vehicle. Love love love.

NO, NO, Please NO minivan!!! There’s so many things that can be done with an SUV. Or just a regular car! You are so not a soccer mom. OK, if you get one you’ve GOT to promise me you’ll put this bumper sticker on the back: “drive it like it’s stolen”. K?
The two-kids-scheduling thing becomes a little bit easier over time. It’s always going to take brainpower. And we know what happens to half of our brains when we push out that baby.
