• Atman

The Atman or Atma (IAST: Ātmā, sanskrit: आत्म‍ ) is a philosophical term used within Hinduism and Vedanta to identify the soul. It is one's true self (hence generally translated into English as 'Self') beyond identification with the phenomenal reality of worldly existence.

    the highlight reel

    By heather | November 29, 2008

It’s nice to visit family, but it’s also nice to come home to your own stuff.  And if we’d stayed home I wouldn’t have the following Thanksgiving highlights to share:

Best Moment #1 – On the way up to visit the in-laws, our credit card gets declined.  Now you could be forgiven for thinking that it’s because of our lackadaisical financial attitude, but you’d be wrong.  It’s because someone made a fake card with our number on it and was doing their Christmas shopping at the toy store and the gas station with a hella lot of liquor store purchases thrown in for good cheer.

Best Moment #2 – Wednesday night, dinner.  Alex’s cousin, who had been sick with the flu the night before is eating lasagna.  (Why feed lasagna to a 2 year old recent flu victim?  Your guess is as good as mine…bygones.)  All of a sudden he wails, his head spins around and he pukes – on the table.  Excellent.

Best Moment #3 – Thursday -post Thanksgiving food coma, phone rings.  My MIL answers, conversation ensues.  Then, she says, “Hold on, I’ll ask…”

To the assembled group which includes Brett and I, my sister-in-law, an uncle, and my FIL, “Jane wants to know what a r!m j0b is?”

Apparently not everyone spends thier post-Thanksgiving meal in a food coma.

Wowza on that last one. OK, on all of them actually.

A family that provides good blog fodder is the greatest gift of all, no?

I just laughed out loud so hard…#3 is the best thing ever. Reminds me of Nagy’s wedding and the banana.
